Skin care questions you've been hesitant to ask

We are not born with all the answers, and sometimes you are too involved to ask questions. We're here with a collection of questions you've been too afraid to ask!

Do I have to wash my face every day?

This is an excellent question and one that people are a little embarrassed to ask. However, the answer is: yes. Even twice a day.

You should wash your face immediately after waking up and before going to bed to remove dust, oil, pollution - everything that clings to your skin. And how should you wash it? Well, that brings us to the next question…

Can I wash my face with water?

No, you can't just wash your face with water. You can dampen it with water - but water won't remove oil, makeup, impurities, or anything else stuck to your skin. You will be wet, but not clean. To properly cleanse your face for the day ahead or to remove all build-up, you need to apply a product to your skin.

Use the power of microfiber to remove pollutants from your pores and get your cleanse off to a great start. Follow with a double cleanse with products in the morning.

How important is it to use SPF every day?

You've heard of the importance of SPF, but how essential is it really? Well, it is quite important. Washing your face and applying SPF every day are the most important things you can do for your skin. Using SPF can help protect your skin from UVA, UVB, and HEV rays, as well as protect your skin and reduce your chances of developing skin cancer. That's why it's so important to apply, reapply and wear SPF every day.

Is it too late to start using SPF?

It's never too late to protect your skin. Even if you've never done it before, tomorrow is a new day and buying a product with SPF is never a bad idea. The best time to start using SPF was probably ten years ago. The second best time is right now!

Can I really shrink my pores?

We always say that pores are not doors. They don't open and close - but it is possible to improve the appearance of pores with certain ingredients. Niacinamide is a great ingredient if pores are on your mind. It can help reduce sebum production, which can make pores appear smaller. Pores can appear larger when sebum is trapped inside them, so choosing a product rich in niacinamide can be a great idea. Pore size often has more to do with a natural breakdown of elastin than oil, but you can keep your pores in good condition with the right combination of skin care ingredients.

Is it ok to squeeze the pores?

It is not a good idea to squeeze the pores. Treatment may depend on the type of blackhead involved. If it's a whitehead, applying salicylic acid directly to the spot can help dry it out. If it's a red, headless, inflamed spot, you can still apply salicylic acid - but it's best not to squeeze them, as this will make things much worse.

Squeezing the pores can lead to scarring or even infection in some cases. If you really need to squeeze the spot, wash your hands, clean your skin, wrap your fingers in the tissue and press the skin around the spot and move gently. Stop before there's blood! Apply an antibacterial treatment directly to the skin and do not apply makeup until the spot has healed.

Is it important to use a moisturizer?

It's more important to apply the key ingredients to your skin that will nourish it with everything it needs to be protected and healthy. Our philosophy is more focused on serums - which are like highly concentrated moisturisers, loaded with active ingredients. Oftentimes, serums can give your skin everything it needs without the need for an additional moisturizer. The Skiningredients Basic Kit does not include a moisturizer as Skin Veg and Skin Protein take the place of a traditional moisturizer as they are both full of vitamins, antioxidants and pro-collagen peptides.
